Everything you need to know about staying over in Cambridge…

  • BOOKING A ROOM AT THE COLLEGE
Accommodation inside Jesus College is available to wedding guests who'd like to stay over and spend the next day enjoying Cambridge with us. Booking at the college is reasonably priced, includes breakfast and is a unique experience!

If you'd like to book, we have reserved a block of rooms at a reduced rate for guests that will be available until about 3 weeks before the wedding. Please visit this website and select the days and room options that best suit you.

Breakfast is included with all room reservations.

In the event that all rooms get booked, please reach out to us and we will ask the college to assign more rooms to us.

    THE DAY AFTER THE WEDDING

We will be celebrating the 'morning after' by eating breakfast together, followed by a quintessentially Cambridge punting tour down the River Cam!

  • Here's a quick glossary of Cambridge terms you might hear when you're in town or around college. Prizes for whoever includes the most in their toast!

Backs - the scenic green area and waterfront that backs onto Cambridge’s riverside colleges, including Queens’, King’s, Trinity and St. Johns

Bedder - a member of college staff who routinely tidies up a student’s room and empties their bins

Bop - a college-wide fancy dress party unique to Cambridge. Short for ‘Big Organized Parties,’ students wear fancy dress at BOPs

Bumps - a popular rowing race that takes place between Lent and May

Fellow - a senior member of a college, usually a professor.

Formal - A fancy, Cambridge-Hogwarts-style evening dinner where students wear a gown and drink some port in the same hall where we’ll be having dinner!

High Table - the elevated table at the back of formal hall where fellows dine

J-Soc - Cambridge's Jewish Society also fondly known as '3TL' (which stands for 3 Thompsons Lane)

Master - the head of the college

May Ball - extravagant parties held at different college in June (not May) to celebrate the end of exams

Michaelmas - the first of three terms in the Cambridge academic year, between October and Christmas. The other two terms are Lent and Easter

Oxford - the other, lesser place

Plodge - short for the “Porter’s Lodge” where the college porters essentially… lodge, sometimes wear bowler hats and ensure the smooth running of the place

Praelector - a college officer (formerly known as Father of the College) responsible for matriculating students when they first arrive and presenting graduands with their degrees when they conclude their studies

Read - a verb used in Cambridge instead of ’to study’ — i.e. Stephanie read Classics at Jesus while Johnny read Arabic and Middle Eastern History

Staircase - different student accommodation blocks throughout the college. As students, Stephanie and Jonathan were both assigned to 'Q' Staircase in North Court, which was the staircase designated for Jewish students and fitted with Kosher facilities.

Stash - overpriced memorabilia (jumpers, hats, mugs) with college memorabilia oftentimes proudly worn by parents of students

Union - short for the Cambridge Union, the university’s history debating society down the road from Jesus College featuring some of the world’s most prominent figures across all areas of public life, including the Dalai Lama, Bill Gates, Stephen Fry, Dua Lipa, Julian Assange, Jordan Peterson, Sam Altman, Buzz Aldrin and Jesse Jackson

  • BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY

    NEED HELP?

While you are in the College, the Porters Lodge is the best place to get assistance. The porters are amazing and are usually happy to help with anything you need!
